Act 156 – Help a friend out

Thursday, May 26, 2011, Act 156.

It is getting so hot here in WV that on some days it is unbearable to walk around any long distances outside.  Today a co-worker had to travel across campus to pick up a University vehicle for a trip.

Even though the person said they would walk just fine, I wouldn’t have it. I wouldn’t want to walk in the heat and be sweating for my upcoming appointment and I wouldn’t want anyone else to go through that either.

I insisted that I give them a ride to pick up the vehicle and keep them calm, cool and collected for their afternoon appointment. It only took a few minutes of my time, but I believe it paid huge dividends for the person to stay cool and not be frustrated by the heat and the long walk.

Act 152 – Extra time to help others

ice scraperTuesday, November 30, 2010, Act 152.

With Winter paying a visit early to WV, yesterday morning it was freezing cold and everything outside was feeling the effects. It gave me a chance to do a kind act.

My windows were all frosted over and so were my wife’s. I was running behind for work (as usual), but knew a few extra minutes could turn this day around for someone else. After I had finished scraping my windows off, I moved on to clear her windows and clean them off for her. She is late all the time and needs every second to get to work on time. So hopefully I was able to help her day go a little smoother. It was indeed a small act, but it’s the little things that matter.

The Twelve Days of Kindness – Day 8, Act 134

Monday, December 21, Day 8, Act 134:

snowAfter our big snow was finished this weekend, the driveway, sidewalk, and steps were covered. I got up early on my first day completely off from work and went out to shovel the driveway, walkway, and steps.  I wanted to make sure that the no one would have any trouble walking or driving in the driveway to our house.  Besides, I would hate to be sued on Christmas from my mailman or even my wife, after me neglecting to shovel snow and clear an easily accessible path. Ha, ha, ha, ha.

Act 119

Thursday, September 17, 2009.

At work today for lunch, I drove three friends to the restaurant. I did it to save them the hassle and the gas, and because my car was biggest out of the four of us.

Act 106

Tuesday, April 28, 2009.

trash-canOn my way to work this morning, a neighbor’s trash can and lid had fallen over and rolled out onto the road. I seem to always be in a hurry on my way to work in the mornings, but this caused me to take some time and help.  I stopped my car to retrieve the trash can and lid that was actually clear across the street from my neighbor’s house. I picked them both up, placed the lid back on the can, and returned them to their rightful place in my neighbor’s driveway.

Act 98

Monday, April 20, 2009.

This morning when coming back from the gym, it began pouring the rain outside. I was the one originally parked in the garage and my wife’s car was sitting outside in the rain. I know that she hates the rain and being out in it.rain

She was still in bed, so I took the chance to grab her car keys and move her car into the garage for her. I had parked mine outside on the street, and was now moving her car inside the nice and dry garage. She would be dry and happy going to work with not having to walk outside in the rain to get in her car.

Act 93

Wednesday, April 15, 2009.

stop-trafficI was getting out of my car and starting to cross the street when behind me there were (I think) four other students trying to cross the street also. The traffic was unusually busy that day for some reason. But I wanted to help the others so I made the first move out into the middle of the street. I then went into traffic controller mode and held up both arms to stop the line of traffic coming in both directions.

The students and I crossed the road without any problems and I was pleased that I could help.
