Random Acts of Kindness Day celebrated worldwide Feb 17

February 17, 2012

Random Acts of Kindness Day is the name of an unofficial holiday increasingly celebrated around the world on February 17 in order to encourage acts of kindness.

It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, just smile at some passers by, look people directly in the eye when talking to them, give people some extra time to listen to actually how they are, help a coworker, take a friend to lunch, pay for a stranger’s bus ride or toll……

These are just a few examples of simple little things to do today that could change someone’s life forever. And science has shown that it will change yours too!

Research shows that there are strong links between random acts of kindness and improvements in the health of people, so do not forget to do something kind today.

Post what random act of kindness you did today in the comments section! I want to hear from you!

Act 153 – Lunch on the run

Wednesday, December 1, 2010, Act 153.

On this “Pay it Forward Day” I wanted to do something special for a person. I was lucky enough to be able to drive a friend to get some lunch for today. I even shared my two white chocolate and chocolate chip cookies for dessert.  Good times!

Act 150 – Chocolate Chip cookies can make anything better

Wednesday, June 9, 2010, Act 150.

On the return work trip back home I bought some chocolate chip cookies at one of our layovers and shared them with my coworker. Chocolate chip cookies can make any trip better!

The Twelve Days of Kindness – Day 12, Act 138

Friday, December 25, Day 12, Act 138:

Merry Christmas everyone!

Today as we all celebrated Christmas and spending time with friends and family, eating, opening presents, etc.; we have to take the time to remember those not able to partake of all the festivities. So my parents and I took some Christmas dinner down to my grandmother who just came home from the hospital and spent the afternoon with her.  She got to open her presents, had a wonderful Christmas dinner, and enjoyed spending time with her family!

This ends the Twelve Days of Kindness coinciding with the Twelve Days of Christmas.  I hope your twelve days was a wonderful journey too. Continue on your kindness deeds and please share them with us on the blog.  Thanks.

Merry Christmas and have a Blessed New Year!

happy holidays

Act 116

This act of kindness is very interesting because it was something that was done for me.

After returning home from an out of town work trip, I was surprised to find my wife had baked and decorated a beautiful cake for my return.  I think she knows me pretty well, because she used extra icing!

I want to hear from you

Yesterday marked act 90 and over 90 days that I’ve been sharing the acts of kindness that I have performed each day. The receivers have been friends, family, my wife, and even complete strangers. But enough about me, now I want to hear from you. I would like for you to write and comment on this blog about examples of the kind acts you would like to receive. What random act of kindness would blow your mind and leave you speechless? Or tell us about your own acts of kindness.

What kind acts have you performed in the past that made a difference to someone and left an impression on you as well? I know there are many kind people out there, let’s hear your stories….
