There is a program I recently learned about that is implemented as a way to show humanity’s true kindness. It is called Random Acts of Kindness (RAoK). The RAoK is a journey for personal and spiritual growth. The premise is giving individuals the chance to experience the joy of passing along kindness. The purpose is to raise awareness about kindness and to invite people to give and receive kindness daily.
Of course the ultimate goal would be for everyone to practice kindness 365 days a year. Thousands of people have already caught this vision and have actively improved their school, workplace, and community climate year-round.
Kindness is something we all possess, in all sectors of society, among all people around the world. I hope people of all beliefs and different backgrounds will be inspired to share with others this core human value – kindness.
Whatever your life principles are, get into the Random Acts of Kindness (RAoK) movement. Every act of kindness you share brings more good into the world.
These acts of kindness can be small and simple such as giving a hug, sharing garden produce, or writing a note to someone who has positively affected your life. No matter what, know that your own contribution of kindness is valuable.
Kindness also transcends those boundaries we place upon ourselves — boundaries of religion, race, gender, culture, and age. Kindness encourages friendship, reciprocity, and healing among individuals and groups of people. To be kind is to call forth the best of our humanity.
Think what a world of difference only one act of kindness can do for someone. The person might be having a bad day, going through serious consequences, or even contemplating death; until your selfless kind act changes their outlook and could turn their life around.
This blog will be a documentation of my journey of 365 RAoK. I will attempt to perform acts of kindness as much as possible for one year. I will then post a brief summary of the act. I hope this blog will encourage readers to start their own journey of 365 Random Acts of Kindness. Pass it forward – it will change your life and the lives of others.
